Ottawa’s Saania Tairq (pictured here, centre) got involved with One Change’s fuel efficiency campaign so that she could apply the volunteer hours toward credit at A.Y. Jackson Secondary School. But when the Grade 9 student came out on October 31 to help distribute free digital tire gauges at our Kanata Canadian Tire event, she quickly discovered that she was doing something meaningful

Sunday, November 7 sadly marked the very last Canadian Tire event for Team 4. This was held at the Canadian Tire in Toronto on Danforth and Main. Luckily, to distract us from this gloomy realization, we were accompanied by our amazing volunteer Ian, whose zest and zeal for fuel efficiency helped spread our message to even more drivers

Excitement beckons as the very last of our digital tire gauges are to be delivered today as we approach our goal of having thirty thousand conversations about fuel efficiency in Ottawa. Our destination: Canadian Tire Merivale. A few short stops, however, until we arrive.

It was no joke still, we had a blast.
Talking to the residents and smiling
We all were trying to save their gas.
Suddenly a tall gentleman dropped by
Well he had popped by, from Sheridan.
He told us he was from the student paper
Oh what a caper, then took our pic.
So now we will be famous for our message
And providing gauges, to residents.

The Brantford EcoHawks is a student-run volunteer environmental committee at Wilfrid Laurier University’s Brantford Campus. On November 2, One Change proudly teamed up with the group of dedicated students, helping to promote green living by distributing free digital tire gauges and engaging in conversations about fuel efficiency across the campus
